On Radio Call-In Moore Criticizes State Senator Simpson's PAC for Funding Opponent's Negative Ads

State Senator Wilton Simpson was harshly criticized by a caller on a radio talk show this morning, on Radio WWJB Brooksville, hosted by Skip Maheffey, regarding the senator's distribution of political action committee monies that was encouraging negative campaigning.

The caller was Brian Moore, an Independent candidate for Hernando County Commissioner, District 2, facing the incumbent Republican Wayne Dukes and Democratic challenger Jimmy Lodato.

Brian Moore on his opposition to the penny tax

The November referendum proposing a 1 cent sales tax for Hernando County, over a 10-year period, costing $173 million, under the joint collaboration of a 1⁄2 cent portion each, by the county commission and the county school board, is nothing but a “bait and switch” tactic.

Brian replies to Times' endorsement of Jimmy Lodato

I was surprised your recommendation never indicated that candidate Jimmy Lodato does not live in District 2 .
I assumed the Tampa Bay Times would endorse any Democrat, even if Mr. Lodato registered Democrat only last year. It is also doubtful if the Times endorses minor party candidates.
Besides the single issue of incumbent Wayne Dukes voting against impact fees, there is no difference between Dukes' or Lodato's platforms/ideology. Both support the 10-year penny sales tax ($173 million), plus a costly nature center ($6 million), more industry/airport expansion, home sales, tourism, new construction and contrived economic development projects promoted by the county.

Companies Who Can Gain From Penny Tax Made Large Donations to 2 Commission Candidates Who Support Tax

The two major party candidates in the Hernando County Commission race for District Two (2), Incumbent Republican Wayne Dukes, and Democratic challenger, Jimmy Lodato, were accused by the third candidate in the same race, Independent Brian Moore, of a "conflict of interest" by the candidates' acceptance of large financial contributions from companies who have a vested interest in the outcome of a penny sales tax referendum on the November 4th ballot.
